2024-25 State Project
Deborah’s House is a refuge for women and children who are victims of domestic violence in Tijuana Mexico. In this safe environment, the women and children have an opportunity to heal physically, emotionally and spiritually. On an average the mothers and children stay from 3 to 6 months. At this time Deborah’s House does not have the staff to help the children continue in their current schooling while at the House. They can not attend local schools due to safety reasons. This project will allow for continuing education online for 4-5 hours a day, 5 days a week. This project also includes books and school supplies plus internet access and computers.
The end result is that these children will be able to continue and advance their studies so that they can rejoin their age appropriate grade more smoothly. This will also take some of the stress off of the mothers so they can get the healing they need without the worry of putting their children at a disadvantage.
The program total cost is $27,058 over 3 years or $9,019 a year and will help 10 to 15 children a year.
