White Cross is a way to serve God’s world, nationally and across the globe. We fill Home Missionaries’ requests with items and gift cards, do handwork for overseas ministries, and donate funds towards missionaries' projects all over the world. Requests are distributed at the June conference to be completed and delivered, some for Christmas, the rest by the next Spring.
Ohio has two AB Home Mission Society ministries supported by White Cross, Dayton Christian Center in Dayton, and Heart Reach Neighborhood Ministries in Youngstown. We receive requests directly from them.
Handwork instructions and Opportunities for Giving through monetary gifts come from International Ministries. These are included in the White Cross packets given out at Spring Conference.
In Ohio, White Cross, and Care & Share are very similar. The difference is that White Cross is a request for specific items in specific amounts collected from the ministries and divided among the Associations and Churches. That request will include items not found on the Care & Share “wish lists”. Care & Share lists are more general and don't ask for specific quantities. White Cross is sent or delivered to the ministry, and Care & Share items can be delivered to the ministry or brought to Conference in June, where representatives will speak, and then take the items home. Both are wonderful ways to support our missionaries and the people they serve.
